This is the current Steam version.
You’ll need to update it yourself, since I can’t fix something that isn’t broken for me.
It should be easy to find. Search for 1 when it’s the CPU and 0 when you’re controlling the player. Look for green text in the results.

Yes, this needs to be done while you’re in a battle.

Go into Versus mode, set yourself as the left player, select the characters, and start the match. Once you’re in the match, pause the game and, in Cheat Engine, perform a 4-byte search for 0.

After the search finishes, exit the match. This time, choose the right side for yourself.

Start the match again, pause the game, and repeat the process, but this time perform a 4-byte search for 1, since the left side is now the CPU.

You should end up with only a few results shown in green at the top. Add all of them to the cheat table. While still in-game, change each added value to 0, one by one, and see which one disables the CPU.

Delete the entries that don’t affect the CPU and keep the one that works. Save your new table, and you’ll be able to turn the CPU on and off by changing the value between 1 and 0.

You can repeat the same process for the right-side player if you want.

You can also replace the addresses you find with the ones inside the scripts, so you can toggle them on and off instead of manually changing values.

If the addresses you get are different from the ones in the scripts, it would be great if you could share your new table so others who can’t use mine can use yours instead.
