External Tools plugin
External Tools plugin (created by AI, tested by humans)
A Cheat Engine autorun script that adds an External Tools menu to the main window. Programs, folders and URLs can be launched from it, and Cheat Engine's own files open in the CE instance you are working in.
What it does
- Keeps a list of files, folders and URLs, each with its own menu icon. File entries also show their extension, e.g. [EXE], [CT].
- Opens .CT, .CETRAINER, .lua, .AA, .CEA and .FRM files inside the current CE instead of the Windows default program. Tables can replace or merge into the current table.
- When a folder entry is opened and the folder contains CE files, offers them in a list.
- Has a manager window to add, edit, remove and reorder entries, including adding several files at once or the process currently opened in CE. The same target cannot be added twice.
- All options are set in a Settings window. The list and the settings are kept in a text file, which is saved safely.
Installation
- Copy ExternalTools.lua to <Cheat Engine folder>\autorun\
- Restart Cheat Engine.
- Open External Tools → Manager... and add your entries.
When updating, just replace the file. The list and the settings are kept, because they are stored in %APPDATA%\ce_externaltools.txt (the Settings window shows the exact path).
Requirements: Windows and Cheat Engine with Lua support (CE 7.x Lua API).
The attached ExternalTools_README.md covers settings, file format, error messages and troubleshooting in detail.
