Metroid: The Threat Never Ends

Post by Maq47 »

Hello, everybody. I am Maq47, who also goes by M1CR0H4CK3R on GameHacking and GitHub, and GStelar04 on GameFAQs. I have a long list of cheat codes I have created and/or ported (although not nearly as long as the masters ^.^), and recently I noticed that all of the Metroid fan games made by Kelly Crystal were using static offsets for everything, so I decided to throw together a basic cheat table for the de facto best game they made - Metroid: The Threat Never Ends. These games are an amalgamation of other Metroid 2D games, with some of them (this game included) featuring wacky custom stuff that just doesn't seem like it would fit in a Metroid game, but somehow works spectacularly here.

Note that 2 cheats have hotkeys, and unfortunately I cannot make the cheat table differentiate between xinput and dinput controllers, so I went for xinput, as these are more common to own, on top of the fact that I do not own a dinput controller currently. Playstation, Nintendo, and generic controller owners will not be able to use the cheats with hotkeys whatsoever in this case without buying a cheap xinput controller. I don't know any lua or AutoAssembler (which will be able to do workarounds for this kind of issue), so I will abstain from dabbling in something I don't understand. Forgive me.

This cheat table has the folowing cheats:

  • Moon Jump - Press up on right stick to activate; press down on right stick to deactivate. May need to hold the right stick up for half a second to fully activate due to odd framerate of the game (100FPS).
  • Health (Energy) - Activate to lock your current Energy value.
  • Missiles - Activate to lock your currrent Missile value.
  • Super Missiles - Activate to lock your current Super Missile value.
  • Shield - Activate to lock your current Magnetic Shield value.
  • Power Bombs - Activate to lock your current Power Bomb value.
  • Invincible - Press right on right stick to activate. Currently does not have a disable hotkey, but one will be added if demand is high enough.

If desired, I can make tables for the other Metroid fan games eventually, just gotta gauge interest first.
